A Room of One's Own

Well, the original flatmate is leaving for Thailand tomorrow, so I got to move in today - yay! Anyway, this is my room - it's quite large, and there's just enough room for me to practice, too! :)

Since today was some sort of public holiday (there's Dragon Boat racing on the river? It was at 9 AM or something, so we all missed it), there wasn't really much to do. So, after waking up ridiculously late (since I got here, I've been sleeping from like 3-8 a.m. and 6-9 p.m., weird, I know), I ended up just running a few errands, practicing, etcetera.

(See pictures of my view and boring stories...)

It's definitely nice to stop being a couch surfer - my suitcase wasn't prepared for couch living, so I made a bit of a mess in the living room. On the other hand, I realized that I brought no clothes (maybe I should go shopping?). Also, I wish I'd known that my flatmate would provide the sheets - that took up a good quarter of what I brought... and since we use a laundry service, I don't actually need all the Oxyclean and laundry detergent that I brought.

All in all, it was a pretty slow day - I was mostly shopping in order to find a kitchen knife, since the IKEA knives we have are the worst I've ever seen. I couldn't even cut an apple this morning! It was v. v. sad.

Remains of the day
- I think I'm going to hit up a museum tomorrow. I'm feeling distinctly uncultured. Museum of space, perhaps?
- Still trying to find a cheap gym/yoga package. *sigh*
- Got hit on in Japan Home Centre as I was holding hangers in one hand and a tea kettle in the other. Now I can't go back, because he said he'd be there AND he lives around there. But that's where my laundry service is!
- Just discovered that electric ranges are completely different from gas ones. Who knew?
